Effects of Beer
According to a general belief alcohol is bad for health. Beer contains alcohol, so it should be bad for health, But it is not so. Just like an excess of anything is bad for health, an excess of beer is also harmful. It can cause hangovers, missed work and other health problems. If beer is taken in moderation that is you don’t get drunk then it is not harmful to health.
People believe that one may grow fat if he/she drinks beer. Beer contains little or no fat. There are many beer diets that can be used to stay thin. One may grow fat if there is too much intake of alcohol because alcohol affects the body’s ability to burn fat. If beer is taken in moderation it is not at all harmful. But if it is taken in excess you may grow fat.
Beer does not contain much sugar but it can affect the level of sugar in the blood. It contains alcohol that reduces blood sugar. This leadsto low energy. Thus, if you drink an excess of beer you will feel tired and go off to sleep. Beer lessens the intensity of insulin in the body. So it is good for NON-DIABETIC people.
It was also believed that beer diminishes the risk of heart diseases. It doesn’t contain cholesterol. It is a source of fiber as it is produced from barley. It reduces tension if it is taken in limited quantities.
For health benefits it is advised to drink 1 beer a day. Drinking beer in higher quantities may cause health problems. It lowers the density of blood. Thishelps prevents strokes. If beer is taken in controlled quantities it improves your memory, but taken in excess it damages the brain cells. Beer is nutritious but can reduce the level of vitamin C. it contains potassium, magnesium and most of vitamin Bs. Beer provides lots of minerals but because it destroys vitamin C it can be good to take a suppliment. Never drink beer instead of water; it may dehydrate your body quickly. This is a major disadvantage of beer.
Beer can be harmful if it is taken in excess. To prevent any ill affects of beer, it is best to take it in moderation. Drink a good amount of water. Beer cannot be a substitute for water.
